GWA in London
Global Women Asia convened our London community on September 17 to introduce our 2024 Women in STEM fellow Tee Ganbold and 2023 Women in Sustainability fellow Larissa Pramudita Sidarto. Thank you to our host Baker McKenzie and to Jane Hobson and H. Henry Chang for their generosity.
GWA advisors Baroness Mary Goudie, Marine Mallinson, and co-founder Wenchi Yu shared why the inclusion of perspectives helps inform better decisions, outcomes, and policies, especially in the new era of technology innovation.
"Automation is transforming our cities, as well as our civilization. It is, therefore, important to gather together women to think about generative AI to ensure female voices and perspectives are at the forefront of this technological revolution. Generative AI has become a game changer, and the largest users are currently in Indonesia, and the Philippines, only after the US. Generative AI in these regions has helped to level the playing field by allowing more women to research like a PhD with four years of training and write like an English PhD," remarked Tee Ganbold.
"It's nice to know that in the GWA community, people take good care of you and want to help you, not only professionally but personally, including with some important life decisions like egg freezing. It is something so important but people don't talk about," shared Larissa Pramudita Sidarto on one of the benefits of being part of the 2023 fellowship.
“In the GWA community, we are developing a layer of connections beyond networking or doing business. Our shared experiences—being global with Asian perspectives—help us build a community that makes the most of our shared values and the attention we bring to each other,” said Marine Mallinson.
GWA's mission is to build a global community of women and their allies with Asian perspectives. This year's Women in STEM fellowship program will take place in the San Francisco Bay Area in November, with the Women in STEM Groundbreakers Award Dinner on November 9.
